![]() Step 7: Under settings tab click "save settings to mini now" (this is the step that i think fixed my issue) Step 6: Select emulation cores for each game Step 5: Go to modules -> install extra modules and install retroarch and cores from step 4 Step 4: Go to modules -> kmfd's mod hub -> download retroarch 1.9.10 xtreme sc! And cores (specifically snes9x xtreme) and close window. Step 3: Open hakchi and flash custom kernel Step 2: Close hakchi and erase all contents from user_mods folder. ![]() Step 1: Restore stock kernel on SNES classic and reformat USB (I backed up my saves folder first - just for my own sake). Here are the steps I did, in detail, to resolve the issue I was having and hopefully if someone else has this issue and can't figure it out, they can use this to help themselves as well. These 3 are good candidates for Faust Extreme.įirst I would like to say thank you to everyone for your input, I really appreciate all the suggestions/advice, it really helped. I can't remember the exact solutions off the top of my head. Darkmime64 created a patch for 0.3, and I was able to make hex edits for 0.4 and Super Duper Metroid based off of Darkmime64's hex edits and stuff I found on the Metroid Construction forum that somebody else used to get Super Duper Metroid working in other emulators. These three can be used in Canoe, but require hex edits. Super Mario World SA-1 Pack 140 (Don't use suspend points or it'll return to garbled sprites.)Īll Super Metroid ROM hacks work in Canoe, provided you remove the headers. Super Mario World the Second Reality Project (one early level there was a weird audio glitch that crashes the level if you do too many sounds at once.) Super Mario World Return to Dinosaur Land The Second Reality Project 2- Zycloboo's Challenge v1.2 Most old ROM hacks, the patches were made for headered ROMs. Canoe can only read SFROMs generated from unheadered ROM files. I found many Super Metroid and Super Mario World hacks I thought wouldn't work on Canoe did fine once I used TUSH and removed the header on the ROM. (I have plenty that Canoe just wouldn't play no matter what I did. Older revisions run way better.Ĭanoe has the lowest input lag of all the SNES emulators and should be your first attempt, especially with precison based platforming hacks. Snes9x current is way too bloated on this hardware and doesn't run at full speed when pushed a little bit. Research, trial and error, and online compatability sheets are just part of the process. Unfortunately, there is no single emulator/core that can play every SNES game. The only thing it doesn't do well is the hacks I mentioned earlier and certain Super Mario World ROM hacks that are larger than 4mb (and a handful of commercial releases that don't have a patch, i.e. Canoe plays most everything you could want. Snes9x2005 for ROM hacks that use inaccuracies prevalent in SNES emulators from that era. The best all-in-one core that plays virtually everything well is the Faust Extreme core. does anyone have any idea why this core isnt working properly?Įdit: i also reformatted my usb and exported to usb with the snes9x xtreme core but it didnt work either. i try to boot a game from the main menu of the snes ui and the screen goes black for a few seconds and then defaults back to the menu screen. if they are essentially the same and there is no advantage as to which one i use then i will stick with 2010 but if xtreme is better than i would like to be able to switch. ![]() i can use snes9x 2010 as my core and it works fine, but i thought the xtreme core would be better. Long story short after a few attempts to get it working, i flashed the stock kernal to start from scratch, added retroarch xtreme and tried using snes9x xtreme as my core for snes games. im using hakchi ce 3.9.3, a usb stick and otg cable, which i have been using this whole time and they work perfectly. ![]() I've had my snes classic hacked for some time now but wanted to update to the latest xtreme core set released by KMFDManic early april. ![]()
